A Furnish-and-Install Concrete Company

Our original site had a line that still describes us: we furnish and install quality concrete. We order the concrete, prepare the ground, set the forms and steel, place and finish the slab, and clean up afterward. Bagged mix, ready-mix by the yard and tools aren't part of the business. Because we install rather than resell, your price covers a finished slab in place, not a load of material you then have to hire someone to place. The jobs range from driveways and walks to patios, stamped concrete, shop and shed slabs, foundations, retaining walls and parking lots. We're insured, and each bid is a free written estimate you can set beside anyone else's.

How Our Three Steps Play Out on a Real Job

1. Consultation and design. We visit, measure, and look at what decides how the job gets built: where water runs off the lot, how much soil must come out, where the truck can get in, and whether the work touches the street. Tell us how you'll use the space, because a patio for a grill and four chairs gets built differently from one that carries a hot tub. When the visit ends, you hold a free written estimate that names thickness, reinforcement and finish.

2. Planning and preparation. Before anyone digs, we review the city's permit, any HOA letter and the Texas811 locate. After that, the old concrete or sod comes out, the subgrade gets compacted, the forms go up and the steel sits on supports.

3. Installation and completion. Pour day is planned around the weather. We place and finish the concrete, set joints where the slab should crack, cure it, haul away the debris and walk the finished job with you.

What Texas Law Says a Home Concrete Contract Should Include

Whoever you hire, Texas law gives homeowners a few protections. The Texas Property Code requires a contractor to give you a disclosure titled Know Your Rights and Responsibilities Under the Law before you sign a residential construction contract. A lien on a homestead is valid only if the written contract is signed before work starts, and by both spouses if you're married. If a contractor holds a written contract over $5,000 to improve your homestead, Property Code 162.006 says the money must sit in an account the bank statement calls a construction account.

The Texas Attorney General offers plain advice too. Get the start date, finish date and scope in writing, never sign a contract with blanks, and hold back full payment until the work is done and inspected. When someone knocks on your door and sells you a job at home, the state's door-to-door rule gives you three business days to cancel. The Texas Comptroller also says labor to repair or remodel residential property isn't taxable.

Why The Colony's Rules Shape How We Work

The Colony puts its concrete rules in writing. City code bars a contractor who needs a permit from doing excavation or concrete flatwork without a current city registration, and the city points out that registration is not a license or a statement of skill. Street approaches run on their own clock, since the new concrete must go in within 72 hours of the curb cut. Branyon clay, rated very high for shrink-swell, also showed up at more than half the NRCS soil sample points in the city, which means base prep and steel placement are the wrong places to cut corners.

We build to those rules because your slab has to outlast them. When you're ready to talk about your job, visit our contact page, or check the towns we cover on our service area page.
